2. Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (USA) and delivered through a worldwide network. Your request may be processed by a server outside the EU. When you visit, technically necessary data is processed: IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system. This keeps the site secure and stable. The data is kept only as long as that requires. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

3. Signing up for “Build with me”

When you sign up for “Build with me”, we process your email address, your first name if you give it, your language and where on the page you signed up. The form sends your details directly to Kit (ConvertKit LLC, USA), which we use to send the emails. Kit also processes your IP address. You first receive a confirmation email (double opt-in); you are only added after you confirm. Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Kit may record whether emails are opened and links clicked so we can improve our emails. We keep your data until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every email or by writing to us. Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

If you email us, we process your details only to reply to you (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR).

5. Audience measurement, no cookies

This website sets no cookies and uses no marketing services. To understand which pages are read and how fast they load, we use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights (Vercel Inc., USA). Both work without cookies and without tracking you across websites. Visitors are not identified personally: Vercel forms a hash from the request, which Vercel says is discarded after 24 hours. What is recorded is the address visited, the referring page, the approximate location (country, region, city), operating system, browser, device type and technical loading times. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (our interest in improving the website and understanding its reach). Transfers to the USA rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Vercel’s privacy notices have more. Your colour choice, your first name (if you enter it) and your reading progress are stored only locally in your browser (local storage and session storage) so the site behaves the way you chose. This data never leaves your device. Legal basis: § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can delete it in your browser at any time.

6. Fonts

All fonts are served from our own server. There is no connection to Google or other font providers.

7. External links

This site links to sources and partner sites. Only when you click a link do the privacy terms of that provider apply.

8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Rhineland-Palatinate.
